Street Dogs II by Harold Riley
A Signed Book on Manchester's Street Dogs by Harold Riley
‘Street Dogs’ compiles a series of sketches that were made by Harold Riley in his hometown of Salford between 1950 and 1987. The affectionate and amusing illustrations are taken from 25 dogs Harold grew to love over 37 years. The book includes the story of Pirate, a miner’s dog who waited patiently most evenings during the week outside the local pub, Wagon and Horses in Peel Green Eccles. Harold also tells the story of Roof Dog, a mongrel who lived on the roof of a raincoat factory in Liverpool Street and only answered to Yiddish.
“The dogs in Buxton are a different class - they lift their leg slightly higher to wee - a bit more refined.” – Harold Riley
